If it’s affordable fitness you are looking for then look no further than the Colombo Centre in Blackfriars, writes Kevin Quinn....

A community and sports centre, it is managed by Jubilee Hall Trust, a registered charity which believes in delivering affordable fitness to local communities. 

In partnership with CoinStreet Community Builders and GLL the centre boasts a 100 station newly refurbished gym and changing rooms.

Gym only membership is £19.95 per month and Gym & Class Membership starts at £26.95. These prices are not special offers but a set price for the year and will not be subject to a price increase come January 1st.

There is no contract and membership is taken by direct debit on a month by month basis.  The centre has a strong community ethic and, managed by a charitable trust, all surplus income is reinvested into the centre and its facilities and also in to the varied community programmes it offers local people. The programmes cover a wide range of age groups, from children to seniors.

Classes offered at the centre within its two large studios include Pilates and Yoga, and for those feeling more energetic Boxercise, Indoor Cycling and Circuits to name but a few. In fact you don’t have to be a member to enjoy the 25+ classes on offer each week. The centre also offers various dance classes, Ju-Jitsu and Karate.

Fully qualified fitness instructors are on hand to deliver advice and help and if it’s a programme you need the Free Programme and update service could be exactly what you are looking for. The centre also has 2 Personal Trainers, who are available to clients at their convenience.

Breathe-London based at the Colombo Centre offers Massage, Acupuncture, Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching and therapies can be booked directly through reception.

Further facilities include a badminton court, two multipurpose floodlit courts ideal for Tennis, Netball & Basketball and two floodlit 7-a-side astro turf pitches.
