MARTIN TO SEAL DERBY MOVE

MILLWALL WINGER Dave Martin should complete a move to Championship side Derby County in time to make his debut against Newcastle United on Tuesday evening, according to Rams boss Nigel Clough.

Martin was left out of Kenny Jackett's Lions squad that beat table-toppers Norwich City on Saturday having spent the majority of the week trying to iron-out the terms of his move to Pride Park, with it believed that the player has already completed a medical with his new side.

Clough's permanent move for the winger fell through on transfer deadline day last week, but the Rams boss has now revealed that a temporary move has been agreed to go through when the emergency loan window opens on Tuesday morning.

"We're hoping to get it all sorted when the window opens on Tuesday morning," Clough revealed following his side's 1-1 draw at Sheffield United on Saturday.

"Everything's agreed – we just need him to get it signed and then he'll join on loan with a permanent [move] in the summer, so he'll be in the 18 on Tuesday night if he gets signed."

The winger, whose contract at the Den runs out at the end of June, will join the Rams on a 93-day loan that will keep him at Pride Park until the end of season, at which point he will be free to discuss a permanent deal.

It is thought that the Rams will pay a fee close to the sum they were willing to sign the player for last week, with a figure of around £150,000 being suggested.

If Martin does not complete his move in time to face the Magpies, though, he will face a long wait for his first Rams appearance as he is ineligible for Derby's FA Cup fifth round tie with Birmingham City on Saturday having appeared against Clough's side for the Lions in two cup fixtures last month.
