Stansfeld made a disappointing start to life in the Southern Counties East League when they lost a tight game 1-0 away at K Sports.
Playing under the Eltham Palace moniker, as the Southwark Club took over that outfit in the summer, Stansfeld more than held their own until the decisive goal on the 65 minute mark.
There was an element of fortune in the winner as an attempted clearance from a far post corner rebounded into the net off of K Sports frontman Nick Nowotny.
Stansfeld manager Lloyd Bradley said: “This was a disappointing start for us, a draw would have been a good result for us today.
“We have had a poor pre-season fitness wise and in the hot conditions out there it certainly showed.”
He added: “We will certainly need to improve quickly though, as we have six games in 20 days during August, so the whole squad will need to raise their levels.”
