BOUNCER SET UPON BY MASTIFF

13 February 2009 A Walworth man, who attacked a bouncer with a dangerous mastiff dog after he was refused entry to a pub, was released on bail at Tower Bridge Magistrates Court last week.

Dean Allen, of Bagshot Street, admitted to assaulting the bouncer at The Temple Bar on Walworth Road in the early hours of July 20 last year.

The 27-year-old also pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a second dangerous dog, which the court heard was not directly involved in the attack.

Having been turned away from the bar earlier in the night, the defendant was heard saying: "I'm coming back to beat everyone up."

He returned some time later with a mastiff and a pit bull and ordered them to attack the bouncer. The mastiff then bit the victim's arm and forced him to the floor where Allen began to hit him with a stick.
The assault left the victim with wounds on his face and arms, as well as a punctured lip.
Allen was said to be deeply remorseful for the incident, which his lawyers said was out of character.
He was bailed to appear before the Inner London Crown Court at a time to be fixed to hear his sentence.
