HEARTFELT TRIBUTE

30 January 2009

THE OUTPOURING of grief around Southwark Park Road for the couple tragically killed in a car crash in India speaks volumes about the high regard for the Bermondsey shopkeepers.

Ravi and Ruby Ravaliya were due to return from visiting relatives on Monday, but their car hit a tanker on a motorway two weeks ago, killing both of them. Speaking this week, employees of their Greetings shop and local residents had nothing but good things to say about the couple and how they were dedicated to improving the neighbourhood they worked in. Touchingly, the closed shop has been covered in flowers from wellwishers.

Fellow shopkeepers along The Blue have raised the idea of installing a bench in the road, in their memory. This would be an excellent tribute to a well loved couple.
