Decor:
There is no truer example of a 'personal touch' than at the new Waterloo watering hole, Jack's. Co owner Ryan McElhinney, award-winning designer by day and bar operator by night (or occasionally vice versa) has expertly morphed an old railway arch behind Southwark Tube into a stylish hangout. McElhinney has combined old world charm with present-day cool using some of his signature pieces such as modernised retro lamps and mirrors mixed with treasured junk shop finds.

Ambience:
The bar has fast become a favourite with nearby office workers but doesn't carry with it a 'suits-only' ambience. It's the perfect spot for a quick drink or bite to eat in the afternoon or evening. Dining hours are busy but not over-crowded and Thursday and Friday you can enjoy DJ tunes.

Drinks:
The aim of the Jack's game has been to make wine an art form anyone can appreciate. This wine bar offers loads of great vintages for all budgets (from £3.10 a glass/£12.25 a bottle) and a diverse range of beers, bottled and on tap, as well as cocktails (from £5.50) to tickle anyone's fancy.

Cocktails:
The shooters (£2.50 to £3.00) are a good start to the weekend. Escape has created a drink for the publicly voted Bacardi cocktail contest, Escapade, and is encouraging people to get in and test it out.

Food:
The modern cuisine menu, has a little bit of everything from totally fresh salads to heart-warming steak dished up for lunch or dinner. There is an impressive choice for a bar restaurant menu and it boasts possibly the best antipasti platter in the borough.

Co-manager: Ryan McElhinney
There's no regularity, not nine to five and my social life has never been better since we opened here. This is the sort of bar I'd choose to hang out in myself so I get to work and play at the same time which is good.

Assistant Manager: Marek Wyzkiewicz
The atmosphere in this place and the staff are great. The people make the place. I always liked bricks and arches, when Ryan showed me the place for the first time I though, oh that's going to be something.

Regular: Stephani Loza
It's really different from other bars, they have nice food, nice drinks. It's unique and that's why I like it.
