It looks like it’s going to be a scorcher this weekend for the annual Bermondsey Carnival.
The News has supported the carnival since a group of local people led by Mick Wilmer and Matt Clague restarted it in the early 1990s.
The carnival was introduced by local families in Bermondsey following the Boer War. It has been a favourite since it was re-introduced, especially among those who have moved out of the area but like to come home to see friends and family. For years many feared that cuts to council budgets might see it disappear – thankfully that has not happened!
