Last week, Lewisham Council postponed a controversial compulsory purchase order which would have seized land surrounding Millwall’s stadium and handed it to developers Renewal.
A tit-and-tat between the club and the council followed, in which Lions chairman John Berlyson claimed the cabinet had not considered the club’s own plans for the area, while the council claimed they had never received detailed proposals.
In this week’s paper, we reveal the plans that were submitted in March 2013 by the club. It features proposals for residential space, student accommodation, commercial and retail areas and a promise to keep the club’s community centre located at the heart of the community.
