Two years after a consultation into a new council office in Queen’s Road Peckham launched residents say they feel it was nothing more than a ‘tick box’ exercise and are still unhappy with the plans.
Not many people would be happy with a new office block coming to their residential street, but much of their anger appears to be due to their expectations of how feedback and objections would be considered and implemented
In an already over-crowded borough where land is at a premium, and the council is under huge pressure to build more housing, it is not a huge stretch to presume that future consultations will also be coming under increased pressures.
As it is, without architects and people in the know on hand, the array of documents affected residents have to decipher can be confusing.
Addressing communications issues is going to be critical if the council wants to avoid lengthy delays and growing frustration.
