Four engines and 21 fire fighters were called to Peckham after a flat fire on Saturday.

The London Fire Brigade was called at 2.28am to a block of flats on Kirkwood Road, with crews form New Cross, Old Kent Road, Greenwich and Deptford attending.

Two men were assisted from a neighbouring flat by firefighters, and one woman had left a first floor flat before the Brigade arrived.

The fire was brought under control by 3.18am, and its cause is now being investigated.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson told the News: “We were called at 2:37am on 7 July to Kirkwood Road, Peckham to reports of a fire.

“We sent a single responder in a car and an ambulance crew to the scene. We also dispatched our hazardous area response team.

“We didn’t treat any patients.”
