Let a magical sphere take you on an outdoor sonic adventure this summer in London Bridge, guided by sound alone.
Seemingly possessed of its own mind, it leads you through familiar and unfamiliar terrain. Can you keep the sphere ‘happy’ by going in the right direction? In return, the orb will take you on a listening voyage to the mysterious final destination where you will encounter a meeting of the spheres, a chiming, pulsing web of electronic sound.
Team London Bridge brings acclaimed international artist Ray Lee’s sonic masterpiece, Congregation to the iconic London Bridge area this August, in a celebration of community and being together again.
Congregation is an interactive, sonic adventure that can be enjoyed solo or in groups of up to four people, through the streets and parks of London Bridge and beyond. Participants are made guardians of their own magical, silver sonic sphere, which seemingly has a mind of its own. The sphere takes each audience member on a listening voyage, telling them which way to walk through the sounds it makes – go in the right direction and your sphere will be happy. Take a wrong turning and your sphere will alert you that you are travelling in the wrong direction.
Each Individual orb will guide their guardian on a different journey through familiar sites and less explored territory to a secret location where all the spheres come together in a congregation, creating a symphonic, pulsating web of electronic sound.
Congregation is created by multi-award-winning artist and composer, Ray Lee. His work has been described as ‘mesmerising’ by New Yorker Magazine. Ray’s work has toured nationally and internationally with appearances at major outdoor programmes around the world.
