Police have pulled the body of a dead man out of the Thames this morning (Monday June 14) in Bermondsey.
Officers think the man, who was found by Cherry Garden Pier, was between 30 and 40 years old. They were called by a woman who said she saw the body while out for a birthday walk this morning. River police and lifeboat crews rushed to the scene.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Police were called at 10:39hrs on Monday, 14 June following concerns raised by a member of the public about a body in the river in the vicinity of Cherry Garden Pier, SE16.
“The police marine unit attended alongside the RNLI and a search was carried out.
“The body of an adult male, believed to be approximately 30 to 40 years of age, was recovered from the water shortly before 11:00hrs. He was deceased. Enquiries are under way to determine his identity.”
