The principal of University Academy of Engineering (UAE) Southbank in Walworth has hailed the mental strength of the school’s GCSE students as they celebrated their GCSE results this week.
John Taylor said: “We have been blown away by the tenacity and resilience of our year 11 students, who managed to navigate two national lockdowns and various periods of isolating at home with remote learning during their GCSE studies. Along with our staff they had to adapt to online learning and dealing with all the uncertainty and change we have encountered in the last eighteen months.
“Even with all this additional challenge they have been successful and we are incredibly proud of all their achievements. We wish them all the very best in their future studies.”
Among the best-performing students were:
- Karley Correa Mamani, who achieved nine grade 9s, a grade 8 and a grade 7
- Caoimhe Basketter, who got seven grade 9s and two grade 7s
- Kieran White, who achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 7
