Two men were attacked in the early hours of this morning in Nunhead, one of which was a 79-year-old aboard a 78 bus.
Police were called at 5:40am this morning (Saturday, 5 September) to reports of an assault on board a Route 78 bus on St Mary’s Road.
A 79-year-old man, found suffering from a slash wound, was rushed to hospital for treatment; fortunately police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Thee minutes later police were subsequently called by an ambulance crew yards up St Mary’s Road to a residential address on Frobisher Place, following reports of a 27-year-old man suffering stab injuries.
He was also taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. Police said his injuries are also not believed to be life-threatening.
At this early stage, the police told the News that the incidents are believed to be linked.
A man was arrested close to where elderly victim was found on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody.
