The Vice-Principal of Bacon’s College has praised the “excellent outcomes” achieved by students receiving their A-Levels today in “truly exceptional circumstances.”

The SE16 school says 51% of all grades this year are at A*-B, and four-fifths are at A*-C.

The “majority” of vocational results for vocational pathway students have been confirmed as Distinction or Distinction*, said the school on Rotherhithe’s Timber Pond Road.

The school’s Vice-Principal, Christopher Hall, said the results came despite a constantly changing educational landscape, not least the government’s announcements in the past 48-hours on results.

“Clearly, these outcomes have to be considered in light of the impact of Covid-19 and the constantly changing educational landscape, not least the changes announced in the last 48 hours,” he said in a statement.

“Despite this, our students have worked consistently and with integrity throughout lockdown and their results are a reflection of an able, hard-working and aspirational cohort.

“This has been matched by staff who have overcome a number of obstacles to ensure that students have been able to continue their learning, supported through remote lessons and online resources.”

Students at the school have secured places at Exeter, Warwick, Westminster, Brunel, Leeds and Central Saint Martin’s, among others.

Courses include law, philosophy, economics and maths, and civil engineering.

“All staff at Bacon’s College would like to offer our congratulations to the Year 13 students for their success this year and wish them good luck in their future studies and careers,” added Mr Hall.
