Alleyn’s School in Dulwich says its year thirteen’s have achieved its second highest ever set of A* grades.
According to the school, 91 per cent of its upper sixth students achieved A*, A or B grades, and a staggering 83 students were awarded at least three A* or A grades.
The co-ed private school was founded in the 1600s by Edward Alleyn, a notable Elizabethan actor and contemporary of Shakespeare, will celebrate its 400th anniversary next year.
Headmaster, Dr Gary Savage, said both boys and girls performed ‘exceptionally well’, and the majority will go on to start their first choice university courses.
He explained: “Our boys and girls have excelled themselves yet again, and everyone at School is immensely proud of all they have achieved.
“This is a wonderful set of results not only for our students and their parents, but also for our entire School community who all work so hard to inspire and support the girls and boys to deliver these fantastic outcomes.
“Alleyn’s is one of the very best co-educational schools in the UK, and I truly believe it is our holistic approach and co-educational ethos that ensures our Leavers make their way in the world as high-achieving, but also kind and well-balanced, young people.”
Dr Rob Atkinson, head of the school’s upper school, said: “We congratulate all of our boys and girls on their achievements which reflect their hard work over the past few months. We know that today marks the beginning of an exciting journey; already 94% of our 2018 Leavers have accepted places at UK and overseas universities or on other specialist courses.
“Whilst they will always remain much valued members of the Alleyn’s community, we wish them all the best for their future adventures.”
