Ark Evelyn Grace student Hibo Yusuf is celebrating gaining a clutch of top grades that ensure she can take her place to study Medicine at Queen Mary’s.

Hibo was awarded an A* in Biology, an A in Chemistry, and an A in Maths. She was described by her teachers as ‘an exceptional student; modest, supportive and extremely hardworking.

“I had three university offers and have decided on Queen Mary.

“I did work experience in a neurology department and the intensive care unit.

“It ignited my interest in medicine.  I want to make my family proud as they have always wanted the best for me and encouraged me to do something that I will love.

“I am from Somalia and was brought up in Brixton.

“When I visited Somalia, I felt like I wanted to give back and so tutored some younger kids.

“I could not imagine achieving what I have if I had gone to another school.”

Another to celebrate is Hugo Pestana Marques, with his distinction in a BTEC IT Professional Diploma.

Ark Evelyn Grace Academy Principal, Tim Dainty, said: “I am immensely proud of what has been achieved this year.

“It is fantastic to see both our students’ and teachers’ hard work and endeavour pay off on results day.

“Our drive for excellence has helped our students secure some strong results that enable them to go on and take the next step to university.”
