Acorn Estate didn’t let the cancellation of its annual seaside trip stop its residents from having fun over the bank holiday weekend.
Instead, the TRA put on a socially distanced tea party in Peckham on Sunday, over the bank holiday, and had some special visitors including Southwark’s mayor, councillor Sandra Rhule.
She was presented with a lovely bouquet of yellow and red roses by youngsters Lily and Chistabelle while handing out school bags donated by utilities company Engie.
Tenants dressed up and food and drink in their front gardens with BBQ chicken, pork and plenty of tea and cakes.
Eve Kelly, Acorn TRA secretary, told the News the group is focused on trying to keep the community’s spirits up despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation, describing the party as a much-needed “well attended, happy event”.
