The number of alcohol-related admissions to hospitals in Southwark have increased by a third since 2012, new data reveals.
According to annual stats published by NHS England this month, Southwark saw a jump of alcohol admissions from 4,690 cases in 2012 to 6,220 cases in 2018.
This means on average seventeen people are admitted to hospital in the borough every day because of an alcohol-related incident.
Men were more likely to be admitted than women, with nearly two thirds of the admissions in 2018 being men.
Ealing recorded the highest number of alcohol admissions, at 8,900 in 2018, followed by Brent with 7,970 cases.
