The thought-provoking Beemaster by Chris Harris and Chris Denys heads to Vauxhall next month.
Steve Taylor plays Brother Barnabus and he says of the show, “We decided to revive Beemaster this year as not only is it a fun show that works as well indoors as out and good old-fashioned family entertainment, but has a message that’s important for everyone to hear whenever possible. Our bees are in peril and without them so are we! We’ve been greatly encouraged by many other bee and pollinator-themed events, for example, Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg’s ‘pollinator pathmaker’ at the Eden Project, Joe Swift’s Bee Garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and the Superbloom exhibition at the Tower of London. We like to think that they all saw our publicity and jumped on the bandwagon! We’re hoping that our audiences enjoy the fun aspect of the show (there’s a bit of end-of-the-pier stand-up comedy and a song or two) and also take away a few thoughts about the more serious subject of saving the planet. A lucky few will be getting a gift of some seeds with which to attract the bees to their own gardens, too.”
Beemaster takes place at the Tea House Theatre at 8.00pm on 14 July.
