A Bermondsey resident has been handed a suspended jail sentence and a restraining order after pleading guilty to beating by assault at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court last Friday.
Sifan Zhang, of Willow Walk, struck his wife at their home on December 21 after they began arguing over who would prepare his lunch box.
Court had been adjourned since February 25 to allow time to find an interpreter, through which he pleaded guilty and apologised for the incident.
He received a three-month jail sentence which will be suspended for a year.
He was also issued with a two-year restraining order, and warned to stay away from his wife and their home.
Zhang, 33, was also ordered to pay £165 worth of costs.
