A 92-year-old Bermondsey nan will abseil down Broadgate Tower on Friday, to raise money for charity, writes Emma Snaith…
Rita Pezzani will take on the 540ft abseiling challenge alongside her grandaughter, Roxanne Lawrance, who works for the charity, Teens Unite.
The Bermondsey woman’s whole family will be watching her take on the challenge, including her six great grandchildren and her 97-year-old husband, Mario.
Rita said: “You have to make the most of the life you have been given. At 92, I’m still fit and healthy and after watching Teens Unite’s abseil challenge previously, it was something I wanted to be a part of.”
“The young people supported by Teens Unite have to overcome so many challenges during their fight against cancer. Now it’s my turn to take on a challenge to help them.”
Teens Unite brings young people diagnosed with cancer together through workshops and activities to help them rebuild their confidence and self-esteem and learn new and life affirming skills.
