Three boys were arrested and detained on Sunday October 31 after police officers saw them riding a single bike and setting off fireworks on Jamaica Road in Bermondsey.
A spokesperson for the police said: “Officers in an unmarked vehicle, driving down Jamaica Road towards the Rotherhithe Tunnel, heard fireworks being discharged behind them.
“Three were on a single pushbike, with the two rear passengers launching fireworks into the road and towards the shops. After a brief chase all three were arrested.
“They’ve been released under investigation.”
Officers had set up a dispersal order in the Canada Water area from Friday evening until Sunday evening, but this did not extend as far as Jamaica Road.
Two given formal police warnings over Canada Water fireworks
It comes after two males were given formal warnings after admitting setting off fireworks dangerously and illegally earlier in October.
Officers have said this year they are determined to be more proactive in stopping fireworks being set off in the street, after being surprised by a dangerous escalation in autumn 2020.
