The victim of a fatal stabbing outside Brixton tube station has been named as Shane Jerome, from Thornton Heath.
The 23-year-old was attacked outside the underground station shortly after 8pm on Wednesday (July 21).
Despite the best efforts of medics, including from London’s Air Ambulance, he died at the scene at 8.45pm.
Police have made one arrest on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm so far in their investigation; that 19-year-old who has since been released with no further action.
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who is leading the case, urged any witnesses to contact police.
“Brixton Road, near to the tube station, is a busy area of London and there were many people in the street, on buses and in cars that evening,” she said.
“We have spoken to a number of witnesses already and I am asking for anyone who was in the area and who may have seen anything, or have footage on their phone or dash cam, to please contact us.
“A young man has tragically lost his life in an attack on a busy high street, I am asking anyone with any information to call police via 101 quoting reference Cad 7056/21Jul.
