A charity that will take young people from Southwark to the seaside to learn how to surf is looking for a volunteer double-decker bus driver.
The Wave Project will take children and young adults aged between eight and 21 to the beach this summer as part of a six-week surfing and paddleboard course held at weekends from May onward.
The youngsters taking part will be trained by qualified surfing instructors and a team of surfing mentors after being referred by doctors, social workers or other professionals who think they can benefit from building their confidence, resilience, and motivation. Many will have complex needs – and some will have never seen the sea before.
The charity says it is keen to spread the word to help recruit more volunteers to help out – including coach drivers for the double-decker bus.
