A hotel in Camberwell is offering free rooms to adults living with cancer after finding out about charity Ellie’s Friends, writes Alex Yeates…
Church Street Hotel is offering the accommodation after its co-owner Meli Raido met the founder through comedian friend Kayvan Novak, of Fonejacker fame.
Meli said: “The founder of Ellie’s Friends told me that the charity offers freebies to adults living with cancer.
“I decided to start offering free rooms, when we had availability. I feel glad we have been able to help people in this way.”
Meli recently accommodated Katie Sheen from Manchester, while she was visiting her son who was playing at a concert in London.
Katie said: “Without this opportunity I would have been sleeping on a sofa bed for sure. We loved the decor and were very appreciative of the warm welcome and hospitality.
“Thank you to Church Street hotel and Ellie’s Friends for enabling us to make some very happy memories.”
Katie has recently completed chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, and her latest scans are clear of the disease.
