Canada Water station will be renamed Buxton Water as part of a ‘ground-breaking’ advertising stunt during the London Marathon.
The station’s roundels will be changed and artwork will be placed around the station in support of the day’s marathon runners, as part of a deal with the marathon’s official water supplier, Buxton Water. The name change will be in effect for just one day.
Graeme Craig, Director of Commercial Development at TfL, said: “For one day only, customers will see Canada Water station transformed into Buxton Water station as part of their support of the Virgin Money London Marathon. This is a significant deal and the revenue will be reinvested back into our network for the benefit of our customers.”
Station announcements and signs will make clear that this is just a temporary change and the station’s main entrance sign will remain as usual.
