New: Canada Water station to be renamed Buxton Water during London Marathon

News Desk (24 April, 2015)

The Jubilee and Overground station will change its name for one day as part of a partnership with the London Marathon's official water supplier.

Canada Water station will be renamed Buxton Water as part of a ‘ground-breaking’ advertising stunt during the London Marathon.

The station’s roundels will be changed and artwork will be placed around the station in support of the day’s marathon runners, as part of a deal with the marathon’s official water supplier, Buxton Water. The name change will be in effect for just one day.

Graeme Craig, Director of Commercial Development at TfL, said: “For one day only, customers will see Canada Water station transformed into Buxton Water station as part of their support of the Virgin Money London Marathon. This is a significant deal and the revenue will be reinvested back into our network for the benefit of our customers.”

Station announcements and signs will make clear that this is just a temporary change and the station’s main entrance sign will remain as usual.
