One of the borough’s oldest charities has increased the amount of grants it gives to the community.
The United St Saviour’s charity, based in Union Street, has been operating since 1541, and its grant investments for 2016 to 2017 has increased by £47,000 to £547,000.
Eleven charities and social enterprises will benefit from the increase, with a further £175,000 set aside for smaller awards to events and activities that bring people in north Southwark together.
The charity has expanded, with three new board trustees, and a new head of community investment.
