A brand new sixth form centre for City of London Academy, Southwark will open in September next year.
The new building will be used by 400 students and is located on the corner of Rotherhithe New Road and Verney Road.
Abigail Blessing, Head of Sixth form at The City of London Academy Southwark, said: “A first class learning environment has a huge positive impact upon students’ education, motivation and aspirations.
“The opening of our new sixth form centre will enrich our students and inspire them to reach their full academic potential.”
The centre’s design had a lot of input from current pupils, with students involved with first floor plan layouts and furniture style, colour themes and classroom design.
Catherine McGuinness, Chair of the City of London Academies Trust said: “The City of London Academy Southwark is one of the best performing schools in the borough with 71 per cent of students securing A*- C at A-level.
“We are committed to providing a high quality learning environment for our students and look forward to welcoming the next class of students to their new sixth form in 2017.”
