An appeal for people’s unwanted coats has been launched to help keep the homeless warm this winter.
Drop-off points will be set up at London Bridge and Waterloo tube stations next week as part of the annual ‘Wrap Up London’ initiative.
The donated coats and jackets will then be donated to charities looking after vulnerable people this winter, including the homeless, refugees, children living in poverty and those fleeing domestic violence.
Between 7am to 11am on Monday 11th to Wednesday 13th, volunteers will be at London Bridge and Waterloo underground to take donations.
Wrap Up London will be found by the main pillar in the middle of the tube station foyer at London Bridge, and the entrance to the Jubilee line off Waterloo Road at Waterloo station.
“In December, the sorted coats will be distributed to charities across London,” states the appeal.
“We work with charities and community organisations that provide frontline services to the homeless, the elderly, refugees, children and families living in poverty and people fleeing domestic violence.”
The charity also needs volunteers to help sort the coats and also drivers to transport the coats across the city.
