Southwark Council is inviting residents to apply for electric car charging points to be installed outside their homes.
The council was recently given £300,000 to pay for new charge points, which could be fitted to kerbside lamp posts adjacent to on street parking.
Residents across the borough are now being asked to suggest sites for them to be installed, in the hope of encouraging more locals to drive greener vehicles.
Councillor Ian Wingfield, Southwark’s cabinet member for environment and public realm, said: “London’s air quality is a public health crisis. The council is committed to working through our own policy, and together with other boroughs and the Mayor, to become part of the solution to combating poor air quality.”
