Veteran councillor Dora Dixon-Fyle will be the next Mayor of Southwark, providing she is voted in as expected this weekend.
She was first elected councillor for the Camberwell Green ward in 1998 and has served as Council Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Adult Social Care and Arts and Culture for the last five years.
She has also served two terms as Deputy Mayor of Southwark and as Deputy Leader of the Labour Group.
Southwark Council Leader Peter John said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce that Cllr Dora Dixon-Fyle will be Labour’s nomination for Mayor of Southwark. Dora has been a trusted and valued member of my cabinet over the last five years, demonstrating the skills and attributes we would all wish for in a Mayor: kindness, compassion and a burning desire to work tirelessly on behalf of the people of Southwark. She will make a superb Mayor.”
