A new festival of events celebrating Elephant and Castle’s arts and culture is holding twenty events across thirteen venues in just five days.
Creative Elephant, held from June 19 to 23, will showcase the art, music, dance, nightlife and theatre that makes Elephant and Castle stand out.
Events include an evening at Siobhan Davies Dance celebrating contemporary choreographers, plays What Was Left and The Sandman at Southwark Playhouse, and a street dance class at Superarts Academy.
Gill Henderson, who helped organise the project in her work as the cultural and communities partnerships manager at London College of Communication, based in Elephant and Castle, said: “There’s so much going on in the Elephant, and much more than many people seem to be aware of.
“We want members of the public to explore the wide range of venues we have here, be the first to spot the rising stars across theatre, film, music, design, dance, and perhaps even surprise themselves.
“Creative Elephant aims to show people that Elephant and Castle is a destination, not just a route.”
