A sanctuary for people with mental health problems has had its last hopes of staying open dashed, as a life-saving funding request has been turned down.
The Crossways Centre in Rye Lane, which is a social hub for around 150 people, had hoped a large pot of funding received from the London Mayor and Southwark Council would be matched by the Southwark Clinical Commissioning Group (SCCG), who manage the borough’s health services.
But this week the SCCG told the News they would not be pledging funds to keep the centre open, meaning the facility will have to close this month.
Those who use the centre have continued to campaign for their favourite place to go to stay open.
