Three years after being demolished and totally rebuilt, the historic Dockland Settlements centre in Rotherhithe re-opened last week.
The new centre opened its doors again on May 27, boasting new sporting, educational and social facilities.
From low-cost ‘playcare’ for young children to activities for disabled and elderly people, the 121-year-old charity’s new centre will provide a number of key services for local residents ‘from cradle to grave.’
Ben North, operations director for the charity, said: “We are looking forward to providing the facilities for the public and running a number of important charitable activities. We can’t wait to get going again in the new centre.
“The opening went really well, we had a great turnout. The charity’s president Lord Charles Cadogan was there along with our CEO, Lorraine Cavanagh OBE. Council Leader Peter John was also present.”
The new centre is located in 400 Salter Road, Rotherhithe, SE16 5LJ. For more information visit the Dockland Settlements website at www.docklandsettlements.org.uk
