Grove Park Carnival is returning to Chinbrook Meadows, along with its ever-popular dog show on Sunday 22 July, writes Anisha De…
There will be more than 90 stalls, as well as events including mini-Olympics, Tug of War tournament, children’s workshops, a food court, and a carnival parade.
Running in its seventh year, the dog show will award a number of competitive titles for your four-legged friend, including Best Costume, Prettiest Princess & Handsome Prince and an overall Best In Show, among others.
This year’s carnival also features a talent contest where the winner will take away £100 cash plus a trophy.
There’s plenty of activities for kids as well: you can get up close with the snakes at the Reptile House, learn a new skill in the circus workshop, or simply get messy at the art workshop.
If you’re feeling adventurous you can take a whirl on the Waltzer or a turn on the Twister at Botton’s Funfair, then cool down at the beer tent and order some BBQ food. There will also be vegan and vegetarian options available.
Raffle prizes this year (among others) include a weekend family ticket to ONBlackheath, Greenwich Planetarium tickets, London Tombs Experience, and a giant fluffy cuddly dog!
The Parade will kick off at 12 noon from TA Barracks Car Park on Baring Road. Carnival Queen, Miss Cherry T will lead the Parade in a horse drawn open carriage.
The organisers of the event are still looking for participants for the parade, so if you are a part of a group, school, or just fancy dressing up and having fun, then please get in touch for details.
Entry to the main carnival is free. Dog Show entry is £2 per dog per class.
