A nursery school is celebrating after achieving its first ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating.
Dulwich Oaks Montessori Nursery School was given the highest rating by the education watchdog following an inspection in January.
The nursery in Dulwich Wood Park was rated ‘good’ at its first inspection in 2013 after opening its doors to children the previous year.
Julia Brows, who owns and directs Dulwich Oaks as well as three other Montessori nursery schools, said her team was very excited and proud of the result.
“It’s quite difficult for a nursery to get an outstanding and particularly a nursery that’s in a church hall so we are very excited that our quality of teaching has been recognised,” said the 31-year-old.
“We are very proud. The whole report was brilliant; a lot of it was about our highly-qualified staff and how they teach children and how the children flourish in their learning and achieve and get ready for school.
“We received a lot of emails from parents to say congratulations and that we deserved it as soon as we announced the news; it’s been amazing actually.
“Out of our group this is our first outstanding although we are working towards outstanding at our other settings as well.”
Julia also directs Dulwich, Lemon Tree, and Coast House Montessori nursery schools.
