A woman was arrested last week on suspicion of conspiracy to murder after a badly-burned body was found in the boot of a torched car in Sussex.
At around 2pm last Friday, fire crews responded to the burning vehicle at Ifield Golf Club near Horsham. When the fire was extinguished, fire-fighters made the grim discovery of a body in the boot. The victim was so badly disfigured that police initially could not even identify its gender, although a post-mortem revealed that it was a “young woman”, possibly in her twenties.
Police arrested the 34-year-old Dulwich resident the following day, although she has not yet been charged and was been released on bail until March 30.
On Tuesday, a 26-year-old man from Lewisham was also arrested in connection with the same case.
A spokesperson said: “We are trying to identify the victim and would like to hear from anyone who may have any information about who she is.”
