The new Charter School for East Dulwich has confirmed it now has a temporary home to move in to for when it is due to open next year.
The Dulwich Hospital site will be the permanent base for the school eventually but in the meantime, pupils starting in September 2016 will be going to the former Lewisham and Southwark College campus on Southampton Way, Camberwell.
The school will stay on this site until 2018 when everything will move across to Dulwich – a change from the original plan to build temporary facilities on the Community Hospital site.
Head teacher Alex Crossman said the decision was taken because the Camberwell site is significantly larger than their previous planned temporary facility and comes with facilities like a library, art room and assembly hall.
As the Camberwell site is 1.2 miles from the Dulwich Community Hospital, the Charter Schools Educational Trust is offering to provide travel between the two sites.
