The life of a man, who police said was threatening to jump off a bridge on New Kent Road, was saved on Wednesday night after emergency workers managed to talk him down.
Police and paramedics were at the scene, near the Esso Garage, from around 8.30pm, as road closures were put in place.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8:30pm on Wednesday (May 29) to reports of an incident on New Kent Road, Southwark.
“We sent two ambulance crews and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We also dispatched our hazardous area response team.
“We treated a man at the scene and took him to hospital.”
Man has been brought down safely and officers will ensure his welfare.
