A successful entrepreneur will run a “transformational” workshop for the borough’s young people next Wednesday.
Mark Atwood, whose digital skip company TopSkips.com has made £40m, is teaming up with Southwark Council’s SEEDS project, Inspire and The What If Academy for the event.
He said: “I know what it’s like to be surrounded by people telling you can’t do something because you’re not educated, you’re too poor, or because it’s not possible, and I know how to get past that. That’s why I want to pass on my knowledge and experiences to these inspirational young people.”
Cllr Ian Wingfield, Southwark Cabinet Member for Business Employment and Culture, said: “SEEDS is a brilliant project and we want to reach as many young people as we can to help them find jobs in Southwark.
“Looking for work can be a challenging and at times disheartening process, and it’s the real-life stories of people like Mark Attwood, who have achieved their dreams that help to keep people motivated.”
The event will take place at The Crypt at Saint Peters on Wednesday June 24 from 4pm to 6.30pm.
