The funeral of Bosco Centre founder Sister Cecily Dunn will take place this week with services on June 16 and 17.
Mass will be held at 7pm at St Peter & the Guardian Angels Church, Paradise Street, Bermondsey, on Thursday June 16, before Sister Cecily’s remains are taken to Sacred Heart Church, Battersea to lie overnight.
The funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart at 10am on Friday, June 17, followed by a cremation at Honor Oak and a reception at the Bosco Centre. The public is welcome at all services.
The Salesian Sisters at the centre – the order to which Sister Cecily belonged – have organised memorial services locally and at a Battersea church significant to their religion.
The News has previously reported how Sister Cecily led the Bosco Centre on Jamaica Road since the 1980s. She passed away on May 31 after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer just three weeks before. The Bosco Centre runs a nursery, college, and after-school clubs.
