A new playground was unveiled just in time for half term at the Glebe Estate in Camberwell on Monday February 13, writes Kirsty Purnell…
Kids, parents and residents were joined by local councillor Mark Williams at the unveiling event, which included refreshments, music and face painting.
Southwark Council funded the £45,000 playground, after Glebe TRA Secretary Jo Glover made an application to them.
Children picked their favourite design for the new playground from a range submitted to the council by local companies.
The winning design was created by SMP HAGS, manufacturers and designers of playground equipment.
Brunswick Park ward councillor Mark Williams said: “We were delighted to award funding to this project last year which was proposed by the local Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, and it was fantastic to open this great new playground for the children on the Glebe Estate.
“I’d like to thank everyone who worked on this project, including the children who choose the equipment, for making it such a success.”
