This year’s Thomas Lynn Bristowe Memorial Lecture will be given by Dulwich and West Norwood MP Helen Hayes.
The annual talk, organised by the Herne Hill Society and Brockwell Park Community Partners, commemorates the role of Thomas Bristowe, a local MP, who campaigned for Brockwell Park to become a public park after the estate was put up for sale in the 1880s.
Tragically, Bristowe died at the new park’s opening ceremony on June 6, 1892, at just 59.
In the upcoming talk, Hayes will speak about her work as a member of parliament, and the constituency’s history.
The talk will be held on Saturday June 9, at 7.45pm, at the Baptist Church in Half Moon Lane. No ticket is needed.
