At least £2,000 was donated to the Homes 4 Heroes charity at the launch of their new help centre earlier this month.
Jimmy Jukes, the charity’s founder and the Pearly King of Camberwell and Bermondsey, said: “It’s amazing. We were never expecting anything like this. Everyone was so generous, and we are expecting the total to rise even further when it all gets sorted together and counted.”
The charity helps homeless ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen get back on their feet. At the Surdoc Club launch party on March 6, a raffle was held, an auction took place and supporters filled collection buckets with donations.
