Peter Collie told the News that tables at the pub on Melior Street, between Guy’s Hospital and Bermondsey Street, are already completely booked up on four or five days.
“We could have booked them ten times over!,” he added. “And there’s another month to go.”
Pubs are set to reopen outdoor areas on April 12, after closing their doors several months ago for the latest coronavirus lockdown.
Reopening is not totally set in stone yet – the decision could still be reversed if infection rates do not continue to go down, or vaccine targets are not met.
But Collie is remaining hopeful, despite the challenges still facing and other hospitality venues.
“We’ll keep our fingers crossed that we’ll be allowed to open,” he said. “Hopefully it’ll be a good summer to come.”
