A guest, Michael Farr, who was inside the Museum told the News: “They came and messaged over the tannoy and said: ‘attention this is an emergency, please evacuate by the nearest fire exit’.”
Guests then gathered on the grounds outside the museum.
The Met Police and London Fire Brigade did not receive call outs, and did not wish to comment.
