Officers are appealing for information that could help with the case

Police have launched an investigation after a young man was stabbed to death in Stockwell, writes Kit Heren…

Ambulance workers called detectives to the scene on Stockwell road on Tuesday afternoon at around 3pm, where a 20-year-old man was suffering from stab wounds.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kind were informed.

No arrests have been made yet and police are appealing for any information that could help them bring the killer to justice.

Officers put a Section 60 order in place for the entire SW9 area, covering Stockwell and part of Kennington and Brixton – making it easier to search people in the area. The order ended at 6am on Wednesday morning.

Colin Wingrove BCU Commander for Lambeth and Southwark, said: “This is a horrific incident and our thoughts are with the victim’s family, who have lost a loved one in such tragic circumstances.

“We are providing every support to our Specialist Crime colleagues as they investigate this terrible incident.

“I want to reassure local residents that they can expect to see an increased policing presence in the area this evening and over the coming days.

“I would urge anyone who has information they would like to share to approach those officers, call 101 or Crimestoppers. We must work together to remove violent offenders from our communities.”

Any witnesses or those with information are asked to call 101 ref CAD 4289/15 Sept.
