Twenty-five years after receiving a life-saving kidney transplant, artist Ted Harrison returned to Guy’s Hospital to unveil a new artwork in honour of organ donors.
He said: “I was never told the name of my donor but I have corresponded with their family anonymously. I’m hugely pleased to have the chance to express in art my gratitude to the donor – the friend I never knew.”
He was also joined by gardener and broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh and former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Williams of Oystermouth, who both praised the “gift” of donating organs.
