Everyone Active leisure centres will reopen across Southwark tomorrow.

Camberwell Leisure Centre, Dulwich Leisure Centre, The Castle Centre, Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, Seven Islands Leisure Centre, Surrey Docks Fitness and Watersports Centre, Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Sports Facility and Southwark Athletics Centre, managed by Everyone Active on behalf of Southwark Council, will be back up and running with safety measures in place.

However, not all activities will be available due to COVID-19 restrictions. For Full information on how the tier system affects your local centre click here.

Mark Basker, Everyone Active’s regional contract manager, said: “We’re very much looking forward to reopening our centres and welcoming back the local community.

“After being closed for a month, this announcement from government is the news the leisure industry has been eagerly awaiting.

“It is very important to give people the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in their leisure centre, particularly during the winter months, and this will go a long way to maintaining the good health of local communities.

“We would like to thank the 615,000 people across the country who signed the petition we supported to keep gyms open, which triggered a parliamentary debate, and to acknowledge the impressive manner in which the leisure industry has pulled together.

“We would also like to thank Southwark Council for their support, which has proved invaluable during this challenging year.

“Ensuring our colleagues and customers remain safe is our number one priority and we have carefully considered the strict measurements to ensure we adhere to the guidance.

“We will be contacting all customers directly over the coming days regarding the centres reopening. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and thank them for their patience.”

Cllr Catherine Rose, Cabinet Member for leisure, environment and roads, added: “I’d like to congratulate all those residents and workers that have managed to stay active throughout the restrictions, but I know it hasn’t been easy, so I’m happy to be able to invite people back to all of our leisure facilities from Wednesday 2 December.

“We have worked closely with Everyone Active to reopen our leisure centres, to make sure that they comply with COVID restrictions and have all the necessary safety measures in place.

“We encourage people to book ahead and enjoy the facilities safely, working with the staff who can assist you and answer any questions as well.”
